Microsoft released yesterday the Windows 11 24H2 build 26100.3025 for Insiders on the Release Preview Channel. The new bits bring most of the new features included in the 23H2 build 22631.4825 that was released last week. However, the company is also introducing support for 6 GHz mobile hotspot connections on the latest version of Windows 11.
Here are the main changes that will roll out gradually to Insiders who install this latest 24H2 build:

Mobile Hotspot: The Windows Mobile Hotspot feature now supports 6 GHz connections on devices that support Wi-Fi 6E connections. This new band enables gigabit Wi-Fi speeds, but the Windows Insider team noted that devices that support 6 GHz Wi-Fi might still need updated drivers to use this band with mobile hotspot.
File Explorer: When signed in with a Microsoft account or Microsoft Entra ID account, the Shared tab of File Explorer will now show shared items including files, emails, Teams chats, and more.
Windows Share: Users can now share content directly to apps that support sharing in Windows by right-clicking local files in File Explorer or on the desktop.
Windows Studio Effects: On PCs with NPUs, an icon will now appear in the system tray when an app that supports Windows Studio Effects is in use. Clicking on the icon will open the Studio Effects page in Quick Settings where the app currently using the camera can be seen.
Taskbar: Microsoft improved the previews and animations that show when the mouse cursor hovers over apps on the taskbar.
Unless Microsoft discovers some unexpected bugs in this 24H2 Build, it should be available as an optional update for non-Insiders in the last week of January. The public rollout of these new features will then follow with next month’s Patch Tuesday update for Windows 11 version 24H2.
