First and foremost I would recommend selling products from a field or industry you have a great passion for or know a lot about (both are even better). My wife and I sell cosmetics. She is VERY good at spotting up-and-coming brands, popular new products, etc -; I’m clueless about that side of the business. My skills are in the marketing and technical side of the business. I often joke that if I were the one to purchase the products, we would be out of business in a week. 🙂

To add to that I would say, look at selling something consumable that people will come back for. And try to sell to Gen Y; they’re more tech-savvy and not phobic about buying online like some of the older generations.
