Elden Ring: Nighteign won’t let gamers play as a duo, only solo or a three-player party, and this was decided on for game-balancing purposes.
Elden Ring Nightreign is a game focused more on battles than it is exploring vast overworlds and soaking in atmosphere. As such, any DLC would have to use a different approach than the usual FromSoftware fare.
It seems Elden Ring Nightreign’s post-launch content will be more standard than anyone realized. According to PC Gamer, the game’s Steam page said “Additional DLC—Additional playable characters and bosses,” before it was removed.
Elden Ring Nightreign DLC Could Add More Heroes & Villains
The addition of new characters via DLC makes sense. Elden Ring Nightreign features eight playable characters, known as the Nightfarers, which the player can customize using unlocks earned through completing stages.
If FromSoftware really wanted to make bank, it could lean into Elden Ring Nightreign’s crossover potential and have Hunter from Bloodborne or Sekiro-style Nightfarers behind a paywall.

The prospect of Elden Ring Nightreign being fleshed out with more content is exciting, as the original game was so jam-packed with content that there are a ton of great heroes and villains that could make an appearance in future patches.
