A (Very Sexy) Last-Minute Gift

A (Very Sexy) Last-Minute Gift

In this edition of The Gift, we’re dishing on a very good unexpected gift. Plus, other sexy things like the best underwear, vibrators, and lube.

Across our many, many Valentine’s Day gift guides, one gift has consistently risen to the top as a reader favorite. (It’s also, happily for all you procrastinators out there, a gift you can still get this very evening and present on time tomorrow.) The gift? A sex education website.

Valentine’s Day is about hearts and flowers and chocolate, sure. But it can also be—if you so choose—about expressing your love, or even your, erm, lust, physically.

OMG Yes is a sex education website for grown-ups that is purely concerned with pleasure—mostly female pleasure. (Full disclosure: I did some minor freelance work for them in 2018.) Its magic lies in its ability to be both unflinchingly clinical and titillatingly graphic at the same time.

The short instructional videos—the result of thousands of interviews and research in partnership with Yale, Indiana University, and the Kinsey Institute—will simultaneously teach you very specific techniques to improve sensitivity, stimulation, and satisfaction—and make you want to try them out, like right now. Each video covers specific techniques you may or may not have heard of and features real people talking about, and often demonstrating, what feels good.

It can be shockingly explicit at first (there’s really nothing like it out there,) but it can end up being a refreshingly honest way for individuals and couples to learn and communicate about sex. And I say that any gift that improves connection, around sex or otherwise, is the most romantic gift of all.

I’ll leave you with a few more experiential gift ideas that aren’t specifically about sex (maybe you’ve got that one in the bag—congrats): You could check out ResortPass—where you can schedule a couple’s pool or spa day at a local hotel or resort—no overnight stay required. Or, give your person a subscription to MasterClass, and together you can learn to cook with Gordon Ramsay, write a song with John Legend, or strengthen your relationship with Esther Perel. And, yes, they have some sex classes, too.
